In the end, we all crave connection, warmth, someone to be with us, to share our thoughts. It can be a friend, a family member, or that special person we choose to share our lives with.
As we age, it becomes harder to form new social circles, especially since we no longer live in tight-knit communities. That’s why computers, and more recently AI, can offer a sense of comfort when we’re alone.
As a recent divorcé, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to navigate solitude, and how challenging it is to build new social connections.
To counter that, I make it a point to stay fully present when I’m in social settings. I almost never look at my phone. I also enjoy spending time at the beach, where there’s no cell reception at all.
